About mylittleone

Beginnings

It all began shortly after the birth of my daughter, Olivia. As a new mom, I became increasingly dissatisfied with the local selection of baby items and clothing. At this same time, several of my friends were having children as well, and I became tired of attending baby showers only to see gift after gift of the same, ho-hum, boring baby items you could find in any big box store. So after a little convincing, and once my daughter was almost two years old, I persuaded my husband that downtown St. Cloud, Minnesota needed a baby boutique and that I should be the one to open it. He ever so graciously let me add the store to the front half of his photography business. After just a short nine months, we outgrew the space and moved into our newest location in Waite Park, MN, which is almost double the size of our previous store. Our brick and mortar store has been around since July, 2008 and continues to grow. We have great support from our local area clientele, but also have customers that live in other parts of the world that begged us to add an online store. So, here it is. We're proud to bring the same unique items we sell in our boutique to this, our online store, as well as continually providing new items that will be offered exclusively online.

Choosing the Name

I named the store after a lullaby my mother wrote nearly forty-eight years ago when she was a new mom with my oldest sister. Growing up in a family of five girls, I fondly remember my mom singing many lullabies to us, but there was one special song that I tried to remember the words to so I could sing it to my own daughter.  Unfortunately, I could only remember the refrain. I called my mom one day and asked her to sing it for me so I could write down the words to learn it in its entirety.  I wanted desperately to share this special song with my daughter, Olivia. As I wrote the last words of this beautiful song, it was clear that I had not only learned a treasured family tradition, but also found the perfect name for my baby boutique.  When I asked my mom if I could name my store “mylittleone” in honor of her lullaby, she said yes with tears of joy in her voice.

Why We're Special

As I travel the world looking for products for my store, there are several things I take into consideration. Is the product quality excellent? Is it safe? Is it innovative? Might it make moms' jobs easier? How easily can it be cleaned? These are just a few of the many questions I ask each and every time I go to market, and I am proud to see that my customers notice the quality and uniqueness of the products we sell. Often with the assistance of my family and friends, I try out as many products as I can to ensure they continue to meet my strict standards. If anything falls short, I don’t order it again and look for a suitable replacement.

I believe people today are hungry for amazing, genuine, customer service that can typically only be found at a local family-owned business where the owner personally works the store. We provide the highest level of service each and every time you shop our stores.  And now with our online store, that excellent customer service will carry over into this new way to shop our store as well. That is a promise I make to you, no matter how big we become!

A Little About Stacey

I was born and raised in White Bear Lake, Minnesota with five sisters and a loving mother and father who have been married now for fifty years. I have been married to my loving husband, Mark, for six years, and am a mom of one daughter, “Princess” Olivia, as she calls herself. Growing up, I always dreamed of having my own retail store and have worked in the retail world since I was 16. So not surprisingly, I received my undergraduate degree (University of Wisconsin, Stout in 2002) in Fashion Merchandising with a Business Minor. I worked at several national retailers in various positions (Eddie Bauer, Levi Strauss), and most recently was in product design and development at Target Corporate offices in Minneapolis, working closely with the designers, buyers, and overseas vendors to create, find, and make the very products sold in their stores. My travels and experiences over the years have given me a solid background in children’s wear.  This valuable experience has taught me how to find quality items for a great value, and now I am bringing that expertise to mylittleone. It is a wonderful journey, a dream come true, and I can truly say I love coming to work every day to meet my customers and listen to their stories about the special little ones in their lives!
